HERKIMER – Absent from the body, present with the Lord, Mr. Rudolph T. “Rudy” Donato, passed away surrounded with love on Saturday morning July 25, 2015. A lifelong Herkimer resident, he spent many wonderful and cherished years as owner and operator of Rudy’s Menswear, Inc., a family business which offered fine clothing and formal wear. Mr. Donato was 88 years old and shared in the success of several businesses with his family in the Village of Herkimer throughout the years. It is truly reflected upon that indeed his family brought him the greatest pride and joy; he loved each and every one so dearly.
He was born on February 16, 1927 in Herkimer, NY a son of the late Thomas and Clara (Foglino) Donato and was educated in Herkimer schools. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served our country during World War II. He was united in marriage on November 4, 1950 to the former Mary E. Sanita at St. Anthony’s Church, Herkimer with the Reverend Gustav Purificato officiating. The couple shared in 50 wonderful years together. Mrs. Donato passed away on December 11, 2000.
Rudy was a member of the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, as well as the Herkimer Michael S. Pliseck VFW Post #4915 and a life-time honorary member of the Herkimer Elk’s Lodge. Over the past ten years Rudy was fortunate enough to spend time in as well as to live in Saratoga Springs. This made him very happy especially to be close to the horses as he was an avid racing fan.
His family survives, inclusive to his loving children, Reina Merkelbach and her husband Kenneth of Albany, Joanne Circelli and her husband William of Plattsburgh, Alba Bowman and her husband Edward of Herkimer, Gina Hartman and her husband Richard of Herkimer, Teresa Bunce and her husband David of Herkimer, Clarina Talarico and her husband Terrance of North Carolina, Mary Baggetta and her husband Thomas of Schenectady, and Rudolph J. Donato of Schuyler.
He will be missed by his grandchildren, Danielle and Andrew Circelli , Jessica Bowman (fiancé Mike Maida), Barbara Hartman, Maureen Minguela (John), Carolyn Saugh (Vik), and Audrey Piccione (Frank), Wesley Bunce, Kari O’Reilly (Stephan), LeighAnn Talarico, Sanita Baggetta (fiancé Ryan Laicona), Angelina, Isabel, and Xavier Baggetta, and great – grandchildren, Chloe Hartman, Daniel O’Reilly, Anjali Saugh, Maya Saugh, Christian Saugh, and Julian Piccione. Also surviving are two Sisters- In- Law, Theresa Fusco and Marie Sanita, as well as many nieces and nephews, especially mentioning Denise and Robert Martin and Renato and Patty Donato.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Mary, along with his brother Renato Denato and his wife Mary Louise, his granddaughter Julia Ann Bunce, his nephew Thomas V. Donato, and his great – nephew, Christopher Martin.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 28, 2015 at 9:00 AM directly at the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, South Main Street in Herkimer, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Quy Vo , Pastor. The funeral procession will immediately follow the mass to the family mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY where he will be laid to rest. As a tribute to the wishes of Rudy, there will be no public funeral home calling hours.

MOHAWK – Mr. James C. Childs, Sr., passed away on Monday morning July 27, 2015 at his Green Street home in Mohawk with beloved wife Mary and children at his side. He was 83 years old.
Funeral services will be held Thursday July 30, 2015 at 10:15 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer (formerly Holleran Funeral Services) and at 11 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Kevin M. Chrisman
LITTLE FALLS: Kevin M. Chrisman, 22, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at his home.
Born in Little Falls on March 27, 1993 Kevin is the son of Keith and Norma (Douglas) Chrisman. Raised and educated locally, he was a Little Falls High School Graduate, Class of 2011. He continued his education attending Mohawk Valley Community College, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and then attended Fulton-Montgomery Community College and received an additional Associate’s Degree in General Studies. He worked at The Field of Dreams in Schuyler and also held a position for the City of Little Falls at Vets Field. Kevin was passionate about baseball, a sport in which he participated from his youth through his college years at FMCC where he held the position of catcher and had a great admiration for the FMCC Coaches Dave Hennessey and Scott Mastroianni. A brilliant, loving, and generous individual, Kevin gave himself to everyone who played a part in his life and he was selfless in putting the needs of others before his own. He especially enjoyed coaching Little League with his brother Scott and conducting baseball clinics at The Field of Dreams. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Eagles fan; he was a true sports enthusiast. He will be remembered and admired for the loving care he conveyed to those in his circle of life, especially his parents, siblings, grandparents, nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by his parents, Keith and Norma Chrisman of Little Falls; his brother, Scott Chrisman and wife Liz; sisters, Jennifer Lawrence and husband John and Hailey Chrisman all of Little Falls; his grandparents, Howard and Joyce Douglas of Little Falls; his special nieces and nephews, Anthony Traficante, Alexis, Zoe, Zander and Mason Chrisman, Cameron and Aiden Lawrence. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Ronald Chrisman and his companion Cindy, Robert Chrisman, Jr. and wife Brenda, Joan Chrisman, David Douglas and wife Jill, Duane Douglas and wife Holly; special cousins Mya and Lily Douglas along with many other cousins, extended family members, friends and a special lifelong friend, Bob Cook from The Field of Dreams.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Arleta Chrisman, his aunt, Shirley Fiaschetti and his family’s golden retriever, Moe.

Jacqueline A. Mizerak
LITTLE FALLS – Mrs. Jacqueline A. Mizerak, of Furnace Street in Little Falls, NY, passed away on Friday July 31, 2015 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY. Jackie was 76 years old.
She was born on August 12, 1938 in Little Falls, NY, a daughter of the late Paul and Ann (Adasek) Gasper and was educated in and graduated from Little Falls schools. On February 1, 1964 she was united in marriage with John Mizerak, III at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Little Falls. The couple had celebrated 45 years of marriage. Mr. Mizerak passed away on May 5, 2009 at the age of 75 years old. Prior to her marriage, Jackie had lived in Niskayuna, NY and Mr. & Mrs. Mizerak had settled and lived in Little Falls since 1967. Jackie worked as a secretary at Griffis Air Force Base for a few years before getting married and moving to Niskayuna. After getting married, she became a housewife. She took exceptional pride in taking care of the family and enjoyed every moment with her children and being at home as a house wife. She attended the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Little Falls.
Survivors include her two sons, David P. Mizerak of Little Falls, and Dr. Derek J. Mizerak and his wife Sandra of Ilion. Jackie was a proud grandmother to two grandchildren, Alexia and Kira Mizerak. She is survived by her sister, Sheila Galbraith and her husband Roger who reside in Delaware. Her sister has two children, Shelly and Roger. Jackie was a great-aunt to seven nieces and nephews. Jackie is also survived by her sister-in-law, Anna Paracka, who resides in Little Falls. She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, William Mizerak. Her sister-in-law (his wife), Starr Mizerak lives in Little Falls, as well as many nieces and nephews.

ILION: Patricia M. “Patti” (Shannon) Vivyan, age 73, a longtime Ilion resident, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015 in the comfort of her home.
Born on February 2, 1942, Patricia was the daughter of the late James Shannon and Marian (Juteau) Shannon-House. She was raised locally and attended local schools. At one time, Patti shared in a marriage with William G. Vivyan, a relationship from which she had her three sons.
Hardworking by nature, Patti held various positions throughout her working years. She was a part-owner and operator in various Mohawk Valley businesses, including Tony’s Country Place and the Sunshine Lounge. She also utilized her time as a self-employed housekeeper.
Patti was a selfless and giving person who cared for everyone around her, including family, friends, and even her pet fish and dogs. Her kindness will be missed.
Patricia is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Deborah Vivyan of Watertown, William Vivyan of De Kalb, NY, and James and Kristen Vivyan of Jordan, NY; and her grandchildren, Steven, Jason, Andreana, Joseph, Michael, Stormy and Dugan. She also leaves her sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Rick Clute of Florida and Sue and Joe Meelan of New Hartford; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Barbara Shannon of Frankfort, Phillip and Donna Shannon of Fairfield, and Karin Shannon of Frankfort; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a special friend, Anthony “Bonnie” Bonfardeci.
Besides her parents, Patti was predeceased by her siblings, Billy Shannon and Sharon Shannon.

Edward W. Carpineti
LITTLE FALLS: Edward W. Carpineti, Jr., 87, a lifelong Little Falls resident passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Little Falls with the love and support of his family by his side.
Born in Little Falls on October 8, 1927, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Frances (Vespasiano) Carpineti, Sr. He attended Little Falls Schools and in 1946 entered into the United States Army, honorably serving his country during World War II. On October 12, 1952, Ed married the former Joan Hatfield at St. Joseph’s Church, Little Falls and shared 50 years of love and devotion until her passing on July 11, 2003. During his working life, Chubby was employed by Cherry Burrell Corp. of Little Falls for many years, most will remember him as being part of the Carpineti & Sons Barbershop; a family owned and operated business on Main Street. After 60 plus years of cutting hair, he ended his career in 2013 giving his last hair cut at the age of 86. His virtues of hard work and dependability were admired by his patrons and peers. He held close to his heart the love he had for his wife, children, grandchildren and family. In his leisure time, he loved the outdoors enjoying hunting, fishing and skiing. Ed was a member of the Decarlo Staffo Post of Little Falls, the Holy Family Parish Men’s Club and was a Boy Scout Leader for many years. Very active in his church, he was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish, a church usher and money counter.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Dziedzic and husband Bob of New York Mills; his son, David Carpineti and wife Cathy of Little Falls; his beloved grandchildren, Peter Dziedzic and Melissa Freeland, Rebecca Dziedzic and Tom Jackson, Bill Carpineti and wife Jessica, Kaitlin Regan and husband Sean and Nora Sullivan and husband Jason. He is also survived by his cherished great grandchildren, Lindsay Dziedzic, Jania, Minnie, Octavia and Koko Jackson, Chase, Jayden and Kylie Regan, Jillian and Giuliana Carpineti and Lilyan Sullivan; nieces, nephews and special cousins, Joe and Bev Vespasiano.
He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Carpineti.

HERKIMER – Mr. Maurice H. Proffitt, a true gentleman who accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior of whom he faithfully and humbly walked with and served, passed away Saturday evening August 1, 2015. Always at his side was his family that meant the world to him, his loving wife Selma and children. The doctors and nurses of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital offered the utmost compassion and care of which the family is very grateful.
In loving memory of Maurice H Proffitt, born in Willenhall England on July 10th, 1935. Born to Silas and Lily (Mansfield) Proffitt of Great Britain, he served for 2 years as a medical nurse in the British Army stationed in Egypt and the Suez Canal. Maurice graduated from the Bible College of Wales in Swansea, where he met his wife of 55 years, Selma Proffitt. Maurice and Selma married in Canada in 1960 and moved to the United States through the World Wide Evangelization Headquarters. Maurice served as an assistant Pastor at Glad Tidings Church in Rochester, New York. In 1963, Maurice and Selma moved to Herkimer New York where Maurice worked at Remington Arms for over 35 years. Maurice was an avid reader, talented artist and had a great sense of humor. He and his wife Selma, wrote a weekly religious editorial for The Evening Telegram for over 5 years. Maurice is survived by his wife Selma, his two sons; David Proffitt and his wife, Victoria and their children, Nicholas, Michaela and Marissa of Chesapeake, Virginia, and his son Stephen Proffitt, his wife Ruth and their children, Brooke, Taylor and Desiree of La Plata, Maryland. In addition to his family in the United States, Maurice is survived by several cousins including Roy and his wife Mary Proffitt of Willenhall, England. Besides his deep love for Christ, Maurice was deeply loved by many and will be missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM from The Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church, 838 West German Street in Herkimer, NY with the Rev. Chris Schumske officiating. Charles L. Weingart
ST. JOHNSVILLE – Mr. Charles L. Weingart, beloved husband, father, and grandfather was surrounded with love at the time of his passing on Saturday morning August 1, 2015 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY. He was 86 years old and received wonderful care at Bassett and the family is appreciative of that.
Born April 3, 1929 in Torrington, CT, a son of the late Charles and Madeline (Barbaret) Weingart; he was educated in schools in Connecticut. He served our country first with the National Guard, having then been called to active duty during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany with the US Army. His marriage to the former Mary Hassig took place April 20, 1964 in Norfolk, CT. The Weingart’s have been residents of Fort Plain since September of 1984, and prior to that lived for 55 years in Harwinton, CT. Throughout his life Mr. Weingart had a passion for farming, and was the owner of the Wingar Farm in Fort Plain. Upon the sale of the farm in 2006, the family moved to St. Johnsville. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Community. He has also had memberships with the Knights of Columbus, the Litchfield Farm Bureau & 4H, former director of the Canajoharie Milk Co-Op, and worked with the Connecticut artificial breeders prior to his farming career.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 51 years, Mary, his children, Charles Weingart of Queensbury, NY, Thomas Weingart and his wife Laurie of St. Johnsville, Julie Weingart of Gloversville, and Edward Weingart and his wife Elizabeth of Ormond Beach, Florida, his grandchildren, Alyssa and Seth Weingart, Sydney and Tommy Weingart, Michael and Emma Weingart and Anna Jessmer, and two sisters – in – law, Louise Brady and Kay Michna.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael Weingart and his sister, Jane Thrall.

John Brys Jr.
John Brys Jr. 52 of 317 West Main Street Johnstown, died Sunday August 2nd, 2015 at his residence of natural causes.
John was born on October 9, 1962 in Little Falls, New York the son of John and Etta Mae (Rhinehardt) Brys Sr. and was a graduate of Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School.
He was employed by ARG Trucking of Utica, having both a CDL and Hazmat Drivers License. He was also employed by the former Beechnut Company of Canajoharie.
John was previously married to the former Robin Lawrence.
His personal interests included hunting, fishing, and selling cars and at one time he also sold insurance. Additionally he was a member of the Sprite Club.
He is survived by a son, Josh Brys, a Daughter Chase Brys of Remsen, his brothers James Brys and his companion Carol of Salisbury Center, Melvin Colony of Schuyler, his sisters Pamela Ann Moore of Ephratah, Sandra Ann (Michael) Griggs of St. Johns, Fl. Several Nieces, Nephews, cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and a Sister Judy Licciardo.
Graveside services will be held Monday August 10th, 2015 at 11 AM in St. Joseph’s Cemetery State Street Dolgeville. Friends are invited to attend.

Born in Cold Brook, NY on July 4, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lindley and Abbie (Boland) Lock. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of Mohawk High School. On November 11, 1950, she married George Heafey in the Grace Episcopal Church, Mohawk; the couple sharing 64 years of a loving marriage. Mary Jane was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She was thrilled to have a great-grandson. Family meant everything to her and she enjoyed cooking and baking for them. She loved traveling to the Amish Country in Pennsylvania several times a year and going out to dinner with her husband. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading and taking care of her home; she kept an immaculate house.
She is survived by her beloved husband, George; her daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Russell Roof of Ilion, Lori and Carmen Tubia of Mohawk; her cherished grandchildren, Mary Schmitt and husband Matt and Benjamin Tubia; great- grandson, Lucas Peter Schmitt and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Lock.
The family would like to thank the 4th floor staff of Mohawk Valley Health Care and the Mohawk Homestead for the care and compassion shown to Mary Jane during her time spent in those facilities.

Mary Jane’s Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday morning, August 11, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with The Reverend Ann Zimmerman, officiating. Procession will then follow to the Mohawk Cemetery, John Street, Mohawk, where she will be laid to rest.

William C. Dygert
MOHAWK – Mr. William C. Dygert, a longtime resident of Mohawk, and decorated World War II Veteran passed away. Bill comfortably resided at the Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Little Falls, where he received special and the most sincere care. The family is so grateful for the extension of all of this kindness during this difficult time. Bill passed away at The Alpine Center on the evening of Thursday August 6, 2015 at the age of 91 years old.
Bill’s service to our country was such an important aspect of his life. His service time was spent in the South Pacific, particularly upon a light cruiser the U.S.S Miami CL 89. Upon receipt of his honorable discharge as Seaman, First Class, in February of 1946, he was the recipient of numerous awards and citations. Inclusive were the following medals, Liberation of Philippines, two stars, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign, six stars, the American Campaign, the World War II Victory Medal, the New York State Victory Medal upon Conspicuous Service, a Combat Action Ribbon, and a lame duck Honorable Discharge as a tribute to the fact that Bill was actually accidently dropped from the mast of the ship.
Born, February 2, 1924 in Herkimer, NY, Bill was a son to the late Charles H. and Marie (Carpenter) Dygert and lived the majority of his life in the Mohawk area. He was a graduate of Mohawk High School, Class of 1946. He went on to attend SUNY Brockport State Teacher’s College. Bill’s marriage to the former Mary T. Christiano took place on May 11, 1957 in St. Anthony’s Church, Herkimer, with the Rev. Gustav Purificato officiating.
His working career of over 41 years was attributed to the Library Bureau in Herkimer, where he had started on the line and went on to become a cost accountant. He served as a president of the Local IUE AFL-CIO office worker Union of the LB from 1963 until 1972. Bill absolutely loved his community and served it well. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America Explorer Post 26 of Mohawk, a past president of the Midget League in Mohawk (1963), and a member of the Herkimer Senior Citizens. He was a devoted member to the Blessed Sacrament Church of Mohawk and served as an usher. He truly enjoyed his membership with the Herkimer Knights of Columbus Council 579, having served as Grand Knight and obtained 3rd and 4th Degrees respectively. He donated time to the Meals on Wheels Program and Catholic Charities as well. For many years Bill offered his warmth and sincerity as a greeter with the Applegate Funeral Home.
He leaves behind his loving companion of over 58 years, Mary. The surviving family includes, Rosann and Bruce Bartholomew, Thomas and Bonny Brownrigg, Charles and Kay Brownrigg, Edward Dygert, Mary Kay and Bob Wolcott, Michael and Donna Woods, Janice and Ken Cedano, David and Jenny Dygert, Robert Hilts, Josephine Pumilio, Debbie Brownrigg, Thomas Hryb, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by Mary Lois Brownrigg (Sister), Robert W. Dygert (Brother), George Dygert (Brother), Teresa Woods (Sister), and Agnes Hilts (Sister).
Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 11, 2015 at 10:15 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer (formerly Holleran Funeral Services) and at 11 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church, East Main Street, Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Mark Cunningham, sacramental minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, parish life director. Calling hours will be held Monday August 10, 2015 , from 4 until 7 PM at the funeral home at 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer. Bill’s medals and several distinguished honors will be on display. The Herkimer Senior Citizens are welcome to pay their respects in a body at 6:00 PM Monday and the Knights of Columbus are asked to kindly offer prayer at 6:30 PM. On Wednesday August 12, 2015 a full military burial service for William C. Dygert S-1/C will be held, at which time the family shall be notified and accompanied by the funeral home staff at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
