Donna M. Zaffarano, 82, beloved wife of William Zaffarano passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion. Born on December 31, 1932 in Ogdensburg, NY, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Dorothy (Smithers) Murphy. On December 31, 1951 she married William J. Zaffarano at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Frankfort. At one time, she was a member of the Ilion Knights of Columbus Axillary. In her leisure time, she enjoyed dancing, singing and had a love for music. She is survived by her husband, William (Bill); a son, Dennis William Zaffarano and Elane of Richfield Springs; her daughters, Debra Ann Rector and husband Dennis of Florida and Terrie Lee Voorhees and husband Dennis of Ilion; a brother, Gary Murphy of Ilion; a sister, Jeanine Jones of Florida; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her in-law, Barbara Rowe and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Billy Murphy and twin grandsons, Chase William and Chance Robert. A Memorial Mass will take place on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Annunciation Church, Ilion with the Reverend Paul Catena, Pastor officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to The American Diabetes Association. LITTLE FALLS: Mr. Lido Salarpi, a long time Little Falls resident, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Alpine Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was 86. Born July 10, 1928, he was the husband of Caroline Salarpi, to whom he was married for 63 years. He was the son of Ferrucio and Lelia (Mei) Salarpi, of Massarosa, a village in the Tuscany region of Italy. Mr. Salarpi was born in the United States but moved with his family to their native Italy at age 3. Near the end of World War II in 1945, he returned to settle in Little Falls while still a teenager. He worked for the Melrose Slipper Co. and later for the Allegro Shoe Co., primarily as a leather cutter. He was president of the local labor union for boot and shoe workers in Little Falls for 25 years. One of four siblings, Mr. Salarpi was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was widely known for his gardening skills. For many years he worked as a caterer for the Decarlo-Staffo Veterans Post and later founded the Piccolo Café restaurant along with his wife, Caroline, and daughter, Linda. Mr. Salarpi served as a sergeant in the U. S. Army where he learned commercial cooking. He was stationed in Korea. Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling and visited various regions of Italy during more than a dozen trips. Mr. Salarpi leaves his wife Caroline and a daughter, Linda both of Little Falls. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Stella Gamberdella of Little Falls; a brother, Oriano Salarpi of Italy; and two sisters, Lana and Liviana and their husbands, also of Italy. In addition, he leaves a special nephew David Liscio of Nahant, MA as well as other nephews and nieces in Italy and the states. Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 1PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315)823-2424. There are no public calling hours. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer with full military honors. The family is being cared for and guided by Harry J. and Kevin E. Mr. Craig Arthur Randall Sr., 69 of 6220 State Rt. 167 Dolgeville, died Saturday June 20th, 2015 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, after a brief illness. At the time of his passing he had the love and support of his wife and family at his side. Craig was born in Little Falls on September 17, 1945 the son of the late Charles H. and Bertha A. (Carpenter) Randall and attended Dolgeville Schools. He was united in marriage to the former Deborah Walrath on May 31st, 1969 in the Methodist parsonage in Dolgeville. They recently celebrated 46 years of marriage. Craig was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Herkimer County Highway Department, retiring from there in 2011. Previously he worked as a logger for many years. His personal interests included hunting, fishing ATV riding with “Rocky’, along with taking rides in his truck with his canine companion a Maltese, named “Holly”, and he was an avid football and NASCAR fan. Surviving is his wife Deborah of 46 years, his sons Craig Jr. and his fiancé Adaire Holtz of Little Falls, Jeffery Randall and his companion Amanda Weiderman of Dolgeville, his Brothers, Danny Randall of Colorado, Rodney Randall of Stratford, Paul and his wife Elizabeth Randall and Brian and his wife Michele Randall both of Dolgeville, his sisters Marion and her husband Volney “Spike” Seeley of Salisbury Center, Candace and her husband Keith Jeffers of Middleville, Marla Randall and her companion William of Herkimer, his grandchildren, Danny Randall, Austin Rockwell-Lyon, Alexandria Feliciano, Loretta Lanphere, Coner Bluett, Alexander Riesel, Alexis and Derek Weiderman, Great Grandson Jace Rockwell, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Dayton, Barry and Mark Randall. ILION-BRIDGEWATER – Margaret A Wildey, age 70, of Renzo St., Bridgewater, formerly of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2015, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, New Hartford. She was born on August 13, 1944, in Ilion, the daughter of George and Mildred (Becker) Armstrong, and attended Herkimer schools. On March 7, 1964, she was married to John W. Wildey in Frankfort. He died on May 30, 1986. Surviving family members include her daughters, Elizabeth Bond, with whom she resided in Bridgewater, and Kellie Wildey and her husband, Aaron Davis, of Bridgewater; her sons, John Wildey, Jr., and his wife, Sandi, of Herkimer, and James Wildey and his wife, Tina, of Cincinnati, OH; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven sisters; one brother; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband; parents; her son, William; her brother, George Armstrong; and her sisters, Jean Wildey and Mary “Suzie” Crossman. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s larger location at 4309 Acme Rd. LITTLE FALLS – Miss Reata M. Stahl, a native of Fairfield and longtime Little Falls resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 21, 2015, at Folts Homes, Herkimer with her family at her side. Miss Stahl was 92. She assisted her father on a dairy farm in Fairfield for many years. She was employed as a personal companion to Esther Van der Gracht of Little Falls, whose father, Joshua Gilbert, was the founder of the Gilbert Knitting Company. She is survived by her sister Alma Reitz of Oneida, as well as two nieces, one nephew, three grand – nieces, one grand – nephew, two great – grand nieces, and one great – grand nephew and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother – in – law, William Reitz. Miss Stahl was born in Fairfield, NY, the daughter of the late Elmer S. and Anna (Gloskey) Stahl. She attended Little Falls High School where she graduated Class of 1941. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Herkimer. A graveside service followed by burial at the Stahl family lot at Rural Park Cemetery (Older section across the road) will be held on Saturday June 27, 2015 at 1:00 PM. There are NO calling hours. FRANKFORT – Jennie M. Siver, a native of Frankfort and current Ilion resident, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, June 22, 2015, at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion. Jennie was 89. She held employment for many years with UNIVAC, Utica, NY as an inspector. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Reynolds of Georgia, two grandchildren, Carrie Robare and Matt Reynolds, and her very special niece and caregiver, Patricia Enea of Frankfort, NY. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins along with her extended family the McCumber family of the Ilion – Frankfort areas. She was predeceased by a brother Everett Brewer, and sisters Lovisa Enea and Agnes Bambic as well as brothers – in – law, Thomas Enea and Martin Bambic. Jennie was born in Frankfort, NY, the daughter of the late Jesse and Carrie (Hanson) Brewer. The Brewer family came to the America’s in the 1600’s. She attended Frankfort High School. She was a member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church of Ilion. Her family genealogy led her to great interest and membership with the D.A.R. (Col. Marinus Chapter) and she was a longtime member of the Evening Star, Valley Chapter #82 (Order of the Eastern Star), Ilion. Funeral services for Jennie will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 11:30 AM at the St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, Second Street, Ilion, with Fr. John Bassett, Rector, officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot, Oak View Cemetery, Frankfort. LITTLE FALLS – Mrs. Olga B. “Ollie” Palisi, a resident of 550 East John Street (Rockton Plaza) Little Falls, NY, passed away in the presence of her loved ones on Wednesday June 24, 2015 at Faxton – St. Luke’s Healthcare, Town of New Hartford, NY. Olga was 96. She held employment for twenty five years with the Little Falls Hospital as a Registered Nurse, retiring in 1980 as Supervisor of the Maternity Department. Her marriage to Walter G. “Chet” Palisi took place on September 30, 1942 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Shnurer officiating. The couple shared in 45 loving years of marriage until the passing of Mr. Palisi on August 27, 1987. She was the loving matriarch to the family and is survived by her daughter and son – in – law, Joan M. Pellerito and husband Anthony of Utica, grandchildren, Michael Pellerito and wife Brenda and Daniel Pellerito and wife Holly, and her very special great – grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Alexander, Sophia, Henry and Abigail. Also surviving are cousins, Catherine Merena and Olga Urich of Little Falls and nieces, Sandra Mihevc and Janice Kerzinski. She was predeceased by her father in 1967, her mother in 1984 and her husband in 1987. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Little Falls. Born June 21, 1919 in Little Falls, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Paska (Belniw) Basey. Olga was a woman of her time with very strong work ethics, having graduated from Little Falls High School, Class of 1937. She went on to attend Excelsior School of Business, graduate Class of 1939, as well as Crouse – Irving Memorial School of Nursing, graduate Class of 1943. Her accomplishments were all surrounded by her marriage to her husband and his enlistment into the military, as well as the raising of her loving family. She was a devoted member and past secretary of the former St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Little Falls, as well as secretary and member of St. Ann’s Sisterhood of the church and church treasurer beginning in 1963. She was a member of the Ukrainian National Home and National Association. She was a past member of the Lady Elk’s of Little Falls, Lodge #42. She was a member of the Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital Alumni Association. She was past – secretary of the Herkimer County Home Bureau and member of Green Mills home bureau chapter. She was formerly a member of the A.A.R.P. Chapter #4367 of Little Falls and past chapter chairwoman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 11:00 AM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls with clergy representation from the Holy Family Parish officiating. Interment will follow at the Basey-Palisi family plot, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Calling hours are on SATURDAY morning prior to the funeral service from 9:30 until 11:00 AM. LITTLE FALLS – Agnes M. Lobdell, of 760 East Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY. Mrs. Lobdell was 72. She assisted as a basic EMT with Response Ambulance in Fort Plain through the years. She is survived by her children, Laurie Terzi of Little Falls, Susan Dame of Colorado, Michael Amadon of Jordanville, and Charlene Remis of Little Falls. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Lobdell. Mrs. Lobdell was born in Utica, NY, the daughter of the late Merwin and Helen (Kuzmich) Berthold and was educated in Utica City Schools. She went on to attend and graduate from nursing school. Her family fondly reflects upon her service to our country with the United States Army Reserves. ILION – Herman “Junior” Alejandro, Jr., age 53, of W. Main St., Ilion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at home, with his family by his side. He was born on February 24, 1962, in New York City, the son of Herman and Cristina (Torres) Alejandro. He attended Ilion High School. Herman worked along side his oldest brother, Jose, as a home improvement technician for Maldonado General Contracting Co., Ilion, for over fifteen years. “Junior” was known and admired for his kindness and humor. Survivors include his brothers and sisters, Jose Maldonado, of Ilion, Rosa Valdivia, of Mohawk, Richard Torres, of Ilion, Albert Torres, of Ilion, Carmen Torres, of North Carolina, Annette Torres, of Ohio, and Anabelle Falcon, of Bridgeport, CT; aunts and uncles, Dolores Torres and Anibal Torres, of Long Island, NY, Gloria Byrne, of Ilion, Maria Austin, of Ilion, and Francisco Torres, of Ilion; many nieces, nephews and cousins; Liz Skinner and her husband, Jim, who were considered family; close friend, Alice Colon; stepchildren, George and Gina Marquez; and two grandchildren, Malak and Angelo. He also leaves his favorite feline companion, Kimmie. He was predeceased by his mother and father. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Paul Catena, Pastor. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Cook, Sr., age 48, of West Liberty Street in St. Johnsville, NY, passed away suddenly as a result of natural causes on Saturday evening, June 27, 2015 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY. He held employment with Nelson Tree Service as a Tree Expert. His marriage to Kimberly R. Hill took place on March 31, 1990 at Scotch Bush Free Methodist Church, St. Johnsville. The couple shared in 25 loving years of marriage together. "West" loved to golf and was a huge NASCAR fan. He is survived by his beloved family, wife Kim of St. Johnsville, mom and dad Bert F. and Mary Jane (Yost) Cook, Sr. of St. Johnsville, his three sons, Westly R. Cook, Jr. (Patricia) of St. Johnsville, Corey S. Cook (Jennifer Guyer) of Little Falls and Ryan R. Cook (Brianna Valenti) of Fort Plain, grandchildren, Chloe L. Cook, Aleigha J. Cook and Sophia D. She is survived by her beloved husband Leo Krech of Herkimer, and her children, Odessa Krech, Venessa Hartman (Jack), and Marlissa Krech-Keavaney (Thomas) and grandchildren, Jeremy Helmer (Melissa), John Hartman (Ashley) and their daughter Ava, Lisa Matthews (Daniel), and Nikolai Keavaney. She was predeceased by a brother Heinrich and a sister Emmy Hechler Roth. Mrs. Krech was born in Bruchsal, Germany, the daughter of the late Eugen and Emma (Heissler) Hechler. She attended St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer. Calling hours for Mrs. Krech will be on Thursday July 2, 2015 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm in The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 3, 2015 at 10:00 am at Saint Francis de Sales Church, North Bellinger Street in Herkimer where the Reverend Leo Potvin, will officiate. ST. JOHNSVILLE – The Lord has called upon Joseph Allen Durrant to join the angels in Heaven in the late afternoon of June 29, 2015 at the age of 24. His passing occurred in the comfort of his home at 18 Kingsbury Avenue in St. Johnsville where he received the utmost tender loving care through the years from his devoted mother Rebecca.
